Youngest ODI debutants for England
England ended their poor form in ODIs with an away series win against Bangladesh in their recent bilateral series. Jos Buttler-led team won the first two matches comfortably to seal the three-match series but suffered a shocking 50-run defeat in the third match.
With the ODI World Cup 2023 in mind, team will be looking to finalize their preferred team in the upcoming matches. The likes of Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone have missed considerable matches lately due to long-term injury issues while star batter Joe Root has not been considered for white-ball teams lately.

Curran made his debut in June 2018, at the age of 20, and has established himself as one of the best pace all-rounders in world cricket. He ranks fifth in the current ICC T20I bowler’s chart and has taken over 100 international wickets already.

3. 20 years and 21 days – Sam Curran
At the age of 20 years and 21 days, the young pacer made his ODI debut on June 24, 2018, against Australia in Manchester to become the second youngest player. He overtook the likes of Stuart Broad and Ben Stokes to become the youngest ODI debutant for England among active players.
2. 19 years and 195 days – Ben Hollioake
The former pace all-rounder made his ODI debut on May 25, 1997 at The Lord’s against Australia to become the youngest English cricketer to play an ODI. He was only 19 years and 195 days old and held on to this record for nearly 26 years. He featured in 20 ODIs and two Tests before getting killed in a car accident on March 2002, at the age of just 24.
1. 18 years and 205 days – Rehan Ahmed
The young spin all-rounder became the youngest Test debutant for England when he played only match against Pakistan in December 2022. In England’s latest ODI series against Bangladesh, Rehan became the youngest English cricketer to play ODI at the age of 18 years and 205 days, surpassing the former cricketer Ben Hollioake.
