The much-awaited ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final between India and New Zealand starts from June 18 and the excitement is palpable among all the cricket lovers who are waiting with bated breaths for the action to begin. The ICC has finalized the umpires and also cleared its stance on the duration of the match with a reserve day in place as well.

Now, it has also given the verdict on which channel the marquee clash will be telecast. Star Sports network has the bragging rights and it will show the matches in five languages: English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. As with any grand events of such magnitude, the ICC has also gone one step ahead and is going to put 34 cameras in place for the match broadcast.

The ICC has also zeroed on the English commentators for the summit clash which includes some elite names like Sunil Gavaskar, Kumar Sangakkara, Nasser Hussain, Simon Doull, Isa Guha, Ian Bishop, Michael Atherton, Craig McMillan, and Dinesh Karthik.

While all the previous names have vast experience in commentating, Karthik’s name in it has what made many people raise eyebrows. The 36-year-old was part of the commentary team for India’s limited-overs series against England and he seamlessly fit into the role with his witty, catchy, and brilliant one-liners based on the match situation.

Karthik’s famous line of “he starts like a Corolla but finishes like a Ferrari”, to describe Virat Kohli’s T20I innings left everyone speechless and amazed.

India and New Zealand all set to battle it out in WTC Final

While, both the teams stand an equal chance of winning the finale, India looks all the hungrier as pointed out by Gavaskar, who feels Virat Kohli’s men have had a good rest ahead of the summit clash. On the other hand, New Zealand are coming into the match with two-match Test series against England which they won 1-0. The momentum is there with Kiwis but few of their senior players are carrying niggles and it could prove a crucial factor when the match starts on June 18.

The winner of the WTC Final will take home prize money of $1.6million. The losing team will get prize money of $800,000. The winning team will also receive the ICC Test Mace which is currently with India.
