WTC Final, IND vs NZ: Day 3, Stats Review- Jamieson’s records, Ishant’s landmark and more stats

The New Zealand team looked in slight advantage at the end of the third day in the final of the World Test Championship. India continued their batting from the score of 146/3 but could not perform well today. The whole team was dismissed for 217 runs in 92.1 overs. Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane was the highest run-scorer for India with 49 runs coming from his bat. Kyle Jameson bowled brilliantly picking up 5 wickets for 31 runs.

The Kiwi team scored 101 runs for two wickets till the end of the day’s play. Devon Conway got out after scoring 54 runs while Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor are still at the crease. Ravi Ashwin and Ishant Sharma picked up one wicket each for India.

4000 – Tom Latham completed 4000 Test runs as an opener during his innings. He became the second Kiwi player after John Wright (5260) to achieve the milestone.

5 – This was the fifth time when Tom Latham was dismissed by Ravi Ashwin in five Test matches. Only Stuart Broad has taken his wicket more times (8) than Ashwin.

1 – Devon Conway has now scored over 350 runs in his Test career. No other player from New Zealand scored more runs than him in the first 5 Test innings of his career.

4 – Devon Conway is the fourth Kiwi player to register a fifty in each of the first three Test matches of his career. All these scores have come in matches played in England.

5 – This was the fifth time Kyle Jamieson picked a five-wicket haul in the World Test Championship. He reached the top spot in this regard going past Axar Patel, Ravi Ashwin and Nathan Lyon who all have four fifers in WTC.

2 – Kyle Jamieson’s bowling figures of 5/31 is the second-best bowling analysis in an ICC final. He became the fourth bowler to pick a fifer in the final of an ICC event.

4 – Ishant Sharma picked up one wicket on the third day taking his wickets tally in away Tests to 200. He became the fourth Indian bowler to complete 200 wickets in away Test matches.

3000 – During his 49-run knock in this Test, Ajinkya Rahane completed 3000 runs in away Test matches. Since his debut, only Virat Kohli has scored more runs (3428) for India in away venues.

2 – New Zealand openers Tom Latham and Devon Conway shared a 70-run partnership and both played over 100 balls. In the last 10 years, this is only the second time both Kiwi openers faced 100+ balls in a Test innings against India. The other time was by Martin Guptill and Tom Latham at Indore Test in 2016.
