Wriddhiman Saha opines after being snubbed for Sri Lanka Tests
Wriddhiman Saha was dropped from the Indian Test squad for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Saha has now alleged that the team management had told him that he would not be considered for selection from here on.
Saha further added that he was told to start thinking about retiring from the game and said that he could not reveal this as long as he was a part of the side.
“The team management had told me that I would not be considered henceforth. I could not tell this so long as I was part of the India team setup. Even coach Rahul Dravid suggested that I think about taking retirement,” said Saha in a press conference as quoted by News18.
Sourav Ganguly mentioned I should not worry as long as he is BCCI President: Wriddhiman Saha
Wriddhiman Saha also added that when he scored a half-century against New Zealand in December last year, the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly had congratulated him on WhatsApp. Saha added that this message from Ganguly boosted his confidence.
“When I hit an unbeaten 61 taking a pain-killer in the first Test against New Zealand in Kanpur last November, Sourav Ganguly congratulated me over WhatsApp. He even mentioned that I should not worry about anything so long as he is at the helm of the BCCI. Such a message from the board president really boosted my confidence. But I failed to understand why everything changed so fast,” concluded Wriddhiman Saha.
Several senior members like Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, and Ishant Sharma were also dropped from the Indian Test side for the two-match series against Sri Lanka. The two-Test rubber between India and Sri Lanka will commence on 4th March 2022. While the 1st Test will be played at Mohali, the 2nd rubber is slated to take place in the city of Bangalore.
