Women’s IPL details to be finalised in next BCCI meeting

BCCI chief Roger Binny has noted that the next meeting after the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia will provide final details on the women’s IPL while the slot for the West Zone representative in the all-India senior selection committee for the men will also be discussed. The former Indian all-rounder, Binny succeeded Sourav Ganguly as the BCCI president role on October 18.

Ganguly, during his tenure, had sowed the seeds of the inaugural edition of the women’s IPL and confirmed that the tournament will take place before the men’s IPL starts next year (2023) in the month of March. The structure still remains a question mark, however, the tournament got much-needed approval in one of the annual general meetings (AGM).

Five teams are expected to take part in the inaugural edition of the women’s IPL while a decision on how they are going to be categorised is yet to be taken. Speaking on it, Binny told that the final update on the women’s IPL including all the details will be provided in the next meeting after the ongoing ICC event.

“Everything is in place. We have just not yet finalised how things are going to be. That (how the teams will be divided) is also being discussed. We have not yet decided on it. It will have to come up in the next meeting,” Binny was quoted as saying by the New Indian express.
