Wishes pour in on Twitter as Shane Watson announces his retirement
Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. While he had retired from international cricket four years ago, he was active in domestic T20 leagues around the world. With Chennai Super Kings being knocked out of the ongoing IPL season, Watson has decided to pull the plug on his cricket.
Watson runs his own website named “T20 Stars”, where he publishes his blogs, videos and podcasts. The all-rounder used the same medium to post his retirement video.
The caption goes, “As one amazing chapter closes another very exciting one opens. I am forever grateful for everyone who was so good to me and helped me realise that dreams do come through. Now onto the next exciting chapter……”
Starting his IPL career with Rajasthan Royals, Watson established himself as one of the best all-rounders in tournament’s history. In 2018, he joined Chennai Super Kings. He smashed a century in the IPL final that year and batted with a bleeding knee in the next year’s IPL final against Mumbai Indians. Fans poured their wishes over Watson’s incredible career.
Thank you Watto Man, for everything. May your next chapter open with a bang, as always. Farewell beloved. ?? #ThankYouWattoMan #WhistlePodu #Yellove pic.twitter.com/lksEyODg19
