Will have a fair idea about South Africa and Australia at T20 World Cup: Kieron Pollard

On July 16, 2021, the ICC announced the group draws for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. India and Pakistan landing in the same group became one of the main highlights of the draw and fans just couldn’t keep calm. However, on the other end, giants like West Indies, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand have landed in the other group.

In the same light, WI skipper Kieron Pollard added that they have quite some idea of South Africa and Australia as they played against them in recent times. WI lost to the Proteas team in the T20I series at home but they thrashed Aaron Finch and his men in the recently concluded five-match T20I series. Pollard wasn’t able to play a single game against Kangaroos and Pooran led the side in his place.

“We might have a fair idea of Australia and South Africa, who are in our group for the World Cup, and for us, it doesn’t matter and it’s just a matter of continuing to improve. And I just want to say congrats to Pooran… with a couple of guys missing out this series, to win a series against Australia, gotta enjoy it,” said Pollard as quoted by the circle of cricket.

Pollard also went on to lavish praise on Evin Lewis as he slammed 79 off 34 balls in the final T20I against Australia. Pollard added that he is starting to recognize his talent and soon he will be able to make big for the team. He missed on a couple of his tons and the team talked about it.

“I think it’s great. He (Lewis) is starting to understand the talent that he has. He is not a big guy but he is really a powerful guy. So, it’s just a matter of giving himself time and when he gets in no one can bowl to him. I think he missed out on a couple of international hundreds and it’s something we spoke about, obviously to get those hundreds as people tend to forget big 50s at times,” concluded Pollard.
