Brooks-Blackwell put up a show

Darren Bravo, hit on the head by Jasprit Bumrah late on day three, had to leave the field as he suffered concussion effects. While Shamarh Brooks played confident shots from the other end, West Indies lost Roston Chase and Shimron Hetmyer quickly. After snapping two wickets in a hurry, India were well-placed to finish the game well before time.

Jermaine Blackwood came out to bat as a concussion substitute of Bravo. The 27-year old Jamaican batsman took the full advantage of the opportunity and started playing flourishing drives. Brooks, benefitted by Ravindra Jadeja overstepping, also got going. West Indies went into lunch on 145/4.

Indian bowlers wrap up the game

It took only eight overs after the break for the Indian bowlers to strike. Bumrah sent back Blackwood (38 runs, 4 fours, 1 six) to spark a collapse. Brooks (50 runs, 9 fours) gave away his wicket after completion of his half-century. Captain Kohli’s acrobatic throw caught him by surprise as his innings ended with a casual run out. Jadeja got rid of Jahmar Hamilton only two balls later off a delivery that could have well been called a no-ball. Jason Holder held out the fight with an entertaining 39 from 35 balls but the defeat could not be avoided. India bowled West Indies out in 59.5 overs. This Test win helped Kohli overtake MS Dhoni and he is now the most successful Test captain in Indian cricket.
