WI vs IND: 1st ODI Preview – New look India face Caribbean test
After having a wonderful white-ball series against England, team India will play against the West Indies in a three-match ODI series followed by five T20Is. At first, the Men in Blue will take on West Indies in the first ODI match to be played at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain in Trinidad on July 22.
To note, team India will be missing a few key players including their permanent captain Rohit Sharma and their star batter Virat Kohli as both of them have been rested for the series. Senior opening batter Shikhar Dhawan will lead the Indian side while prominent allrounder Ravindra Jadeja will serve as the team’s vice-captain. Despite a few key players missing from the team, the Men in Blue have announced a strong squad and will back themselves to win the ODI series.
Talking about West Indies, the home team had recently lost an ODI series by a margin of 3-0 against Bangladesh and will want to put on a much better performance as compared to their previous outing. Skipper Nicholas Pooran will be leading the Men in Maroon.
Here’s the probable playing XI for West Indies vs India:
West Indies:
Senior batter Shai Hope, who did not have a good outing against Bangladesh recently, will want to perform well for his team in the upcoming fixtures and give some good starts to his team. The finisher’s job in batting is expected to be played by Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, and skipper Pooran.
India:
Sanju Samson, who has been named on the Indian side, would want to score runs consistently. The right-handed batter has the ability to clear the ropes easily and he has a chance to solidify his spot in the team.
