WI vs ENG: Eoin Morgan ruled out from T20I series with quad injury
The England team are currently in the West Indies to play a T20I and Test series. The Windies lead the five-match series 2-1 and the English team will need to pull up their socks in the next two games. However, before the next match, the visitors have received a huge setback as it has been reported that their limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan will not be taking any further part in the series.
On Thursday, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) officially confirmed that Morgan will miss the remainder of the T20I series against West Indies due to a low-grade quadriceps injury.
Right thigh muscle injury rules Eoin Morgan out of West Indies T20Is
In fact, the southpaw had also missed the third game at Barbados on Wednesday after he felt pain in his right quad during the warm-up. He then underwent tests after which it was revealed that the 2019 World Cup-winning skipper sustained a right thigh muscle injury. At the same time, it has also been reported that the injury is ‘relatively minor’.

Eoin Morgan did not have a good series as he could not make his bat do the talking, having amassed just 30 runs from two games with scores of 17 and 13 respectively. As the middle-order batter did not feature in the third game, it was Moeen Ali who was the stand-in captain for the 2010 champions and it seems that the all-rounder would continue to lead England for the remainder of the series.
While the visitors were completely outplayed in the first T20I to lose by nine wickets, they held their nerves in the next one to snatch a one-run win in an edge-of-the-seat thriller. Moeen Ali and Co. then tried their level best chasing a mammoth 225 but despite wicketkeeper batter Tom Banton’s amazing 73, they were restricted to 204/9 as the hosts registered a 20-run win.
With the series on the line and their key strategist unavailable, a demoralised English team would be hoping to come out all guns blazing in the penultimate match, which will be contested at Kensington Oval at Barbados on Sunday.
