WI vs AUS: 5 players to watch out for in 5-match T20I series
Aaron Finch’s Australia will square off against the Kieron Pollard-led West Indies side in a five-match T20I series. This series will commence on 9th July 2021, and all 5 matches in the series will be played at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St.Lucia.
And, both these sides have got extremely talented cricketers in their ranks. In this article, let us take a look at 5 players to watch out for in the T20I series between West Indies and Australia.
5. Chris Gayle
Chris Gayle is a gladiator as far as T20 cricket is concerned. The 41-year-old batting colossus is the leading run-scorer for the West Indian side in T20Is (1712 runs), and if he scores another 288 runs, Gayle will become the first batsman from the land of the Caribbean to aggregate 2000 runs in T20Is. Gayle is always a threat to the opposition with the willow.
4. Dwayne Bravo
Dwayne Bravo was in excellent form with the ball in the T20I series between South Africa and West Indies and was the leading wicket-taker in the series. In the five-match rubber between the two sides, Bravo scalped 10 wickets at an excellent average of just 13.10. He also gave away runs at an economy rate of under 7 runs an over. Bravo has a lot of experience in T20I cricket, and will once again look to repeat his heroics with the ball against the kangaroos.
3. Mitchell Starc
Mitchell Starc is one dynamite with the ball in hand. The left-arm pacer is blessed with good, raw pace, and also possesses a yorker that can rattle any batsman in world cricket. Starc has currently taken 47 wickets in T20Is and is the second-highest wicket-taker for the Australian side. And if he takes another 2 wickets, he will overtake Shane Watson and etch his name as the highest wicket-taker for Australia in T20Is.
2. Aaron Finch
Aaron Finch is the leading run-scorer for the Australian side in T20Is. The bulky right-handed batting colossus has featured in 71 T20Is for Australia and has amassed 2346 runs. And, if he can score another 154 runs, Finch will become the first Australian batsman to go past 2500 runs in the T20I format of the game.
1. Evin Lewis
Evin Lewis was in cracking form in the 5th T20I against South Africa. Lewis scored a classic 52 at a strike rate of 152.94 at the top of the order. The left-hander was also the highest run-scorer for the West Indies in the five-match T20I series against the Proteas and aggregated 178 runs. If Lewis gets going in the T20Is against Australia, he will be a nightmare for Aaron Finch and his men.
