West Indies announce 16-member squad for T20I series against India
West Indies have named a 16 member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India that will start on February 16 after the completion of the three-match ODI series. Kieron Pollard as expected will continue his leadership while Nicholas Pooran has taken the deputy role. Shamarh Brooks, Nkrumah Bonner, Kemar Roach are notable names that are set to play only the ODIs and will not be part of the T20I series.
West Indies are currently part of the five-match T20I series against England at home and are leading the series 2-1 with two games to go. The Pollard-led side did not have the best of times in the T20 World Cup 2021 despite a lot of experts tagging them as the favourites and they crashed out in the Super 12 stages of the tournament. The two-time World T20 champions will now have to take part in the qualifier stages for this year’s T20 World Cup 2022 to get into the Super 12 stages.
