We know Shane Warne is looking at us with a lot of pride: Jos Buttler
Rajasthan Royals made it to their first-ever final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) since their triumph in the inaugural edition. Shane Warne had led the Royals to glory then as they defeated MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in a thrilling final. Since then, Warne has stayed with RR in some or the other capacity and played the role of mentor in a previous couple of seasons as well.
But the legendary cricketer passed away earlier this year due to a heart attack when he was enjoying a holiday in Thailand. No wonder, the Royals camp is missing him, and their qualifier 2 hero Jos Buttler feels that Warne will be proud of the team for the way they have performed this season. Buttler slammed a sensational century, his fourth of the season, to power RR to the final.
“Shane Warne is such an influential figure for the Rajasthan Royals and having led the team to success in the first season, we will miss him dearly, but we know he is looking down on us with a lot of pride today,” he said while speaking in the post-match presentation ceremony.
Jos Buttler excited for the final
Rajasthan Royals will now face the Gujarat Titans in the final of IPL 2022 on Sunday (May 29) at the same venue. Jos Buttler is excited to play in front of the jam-packed crowd at the Narendra Modi and wants to contribute to his team’s success as well. He also revealed that he was incredibly excited to play at arguably the biggest stadium in the world.
“I came today so excited and the thought of playing in front of 100 thousand people, incredible support, a fantastic stadium and brilliant game of cricket. I just enjoyed today so much. To be able to get the opportunity to go and play in the final of the biggest T20 tournament in the world is incredibly exciting,” Buttler added.
