We don’t need hundreds, but match-winning performance from Kohli: Rahul Dravid
Team India head coach Rahul Dravid has lauded batting star Virat Kohli and said that he inspires a lot of other players in the dressing room. Dravid also said that he has never seen a person who is so dedicated and hard-working. The head coach also emphasized the fact that people look at hundreds as achievements but match-winning contribution is what really matters.
The Indian star batter will be seen in action against the home team England in a rescheduled Test match starting from July 1 (Friday). He looked in good touch during a four-day warm-up game against Leicestershire as he stroked an excellent fifty.
He is the most hard-working guy I have come across: Dravid on Kohli
“I disagree with you when you said he is on the wrong side of 30s. He’s the most hard-working guy I have come across. The way he played in the practice match he’s ticking all the right boxes.” said Rahul Dravid on Virat Kohli going through a phase in the international cricket.
“I don’t think he needs motivation. You go through such phases and it’s not about focusing on those three figures. People see hundred as a success, but we want match-winning contributions from him. He inspires a lot of people in the dressing room,” Dravid added.
The last time Kohli toured England, he was leading the Indian side, but he stepped down from the captaincy post after India’s series loss against South Africa. With no burden of captaincy, the 33-year-old would look to score lots of runs for his team in the upcoming series against England and end his long-running century drought in the international arena to bring some joy to the Indian fans.
Meanwhile, the Three Lions will also have their confidence up after beating the New Zealand side in a three-match Test series. While India either needs to win or draw the match to win the series, the home team will need to win the encounter at any cost to secure the series.
