‘We are all really excited’ – Shubman Gill ahead of West Indies ODIs
A few days have passed since India’s tour of the UK came to an end and now, the Men in Blue have arrived in Trinidad for the three-match ODI series against the West Indies, which gets underway on July 22. The 50-over games will be followed by a three-match T20I series. All three games of the ODI series will be played at the Port of Spain in Trinidad.
Shubman Gill, who is a part of the Indian camp, revealed India’s original plans for the net practice, and how the rain played a spoilsport. The management of the Indian team had planned to hold an outdoor net practice session when they arrived, but the weather derailed their preparations. The series’ first ODI, which is set for Friday at Queen’s Park Oval, caused the session to be moved indoors, though.
“The moment we arrived from the UK, we all thought having a net session would be good but it started raining (so we) went indoors. It was better than nothing, at least batters had a knock indoors. As a batter, whenever you get to play some deliveries, it always feels good,” Gill said in a video shared by the Indian Cricket Team on social media.
“Overall, a good net session. Did some specific sessions. I am feeling great. We are all really excited and buzzed about these three ODIs. Hopefully, we will win the first one and then win the series and things will go smoothly,” he added.
