WATCH: Tabraiz Shamsi rates the wicket celebrations of other bowlers
Tabraiz Shamsi is an excellent bowler and he has been proving his uniqueness and talent with the ball in recent times. He was recently toppled from the No. 1 T20I bowler’s rankings, but his form has been good enough for him to take over the top position once again. However, one of the things which he is remembered for is his several ‘magical’ celebrations’.
The left-arm wrist-spinner recently sat down with the ICC team to review the celebrations of some of the more popular players. Shamsi, himself, is known for his celebrations. A few times he has shown magic tricks on the field after picking up a wicket while on the other days, we have seen him taking his boot out and trying to pretend calling someone.
Of late, in a recently-released video by ICC, he was seen reviewing the celebration of Hasan Ali. The Pakistan fast-bowler is known for his famous ‘generator’ celebration. Shamsi gave him 10 out of 10 for his celebration but then deducted two points for a particular reason.
Hasan Ali has got to slow it down a touch: Tabraiz on Ali’s celebration
“I wish I was from the Caribbean. I love the guys. I’m hoping to see more celebrations from them, just not against us.”

“I love that celebration. The passion that is there, you can see the guy is trying his best. I would rate that 10/10 but actually, I would minus two because Hasan’s a friend of mine and he has injured himself while doing that celebration. I think Hasan Ali’s has got to slow it down a touch because we need him playing cricket and taking wickets for Pakistan, not against South Africa but against all other teams,” Shamsi said in the video.
What the Proteas’ spinner said is actually true. Ali faced an injury crisis, which took his bowling form away from him at one point as well, all because of his extravagant celebration. Shamsi also reviewed the ‘Notebook celebration’ of Kesrick Williams. He gave him seven out of 10. That was also the score that he gave to Oman’s Jatinder Singh, who had a Shikhar Dhawan-like thigh-five celebration.
Brett Lee’s chainsaw celebration got nine from the master spinner while Dwayne Bravo’s champion celebration got 10 out of 10. Shamsi was also generous towards Sheldon Cottrell’s salute celebration, saying that he has also done this with him when they played together in the Caribbean Premier League. Cottrell got a 10 from the spinner.
