WATCH: Glenn Maxwell plucks belief-defying catch in BBL

It was hands-on mouth stuff from Australia’s Glenn Maxwell, who took a stunning catch running backwards in the 51st match of the 11th edition of BBL. The 33-year-old all-rounder is one of the best fielders going around the world and he has already taken a lot of stunning catches so far in his career. However, this one has left social media in awe because of the difficulty of the catch.

Brisbane Heat won the toss and batted first which did not go well as they would have liked to. The Chris Lynn-led side were on the back foot straight away after losing three wickets at the 82nd run mark and it was down to Sam Heazlett and Ben Duckett to do the stitch work. The field had come in for Heazlett and he tried to chip one over the mid-off fielder in which he ended up getting caught.

A popular Australian source on Twitter had posted the video of the catch and termed it to be the best in the tournament so far. Most fielders while running backwards tend to lose their balance, which wasn’t the case for Maxwell who likes taking the challenges in the field. Australia has produced incredible fielders over the years and it has been one of the reasons for their complete dominance in the period from 1995 to 2005.
