WATCH: Dewald Brevis’ no-look six against KKR
The 14th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) witnessed superstars Suryakumar Yadav and Pat Cummins returning to action for their respective teams. But South African u-19 star Dewald Brevis, on his IPL debut, managed to hog all the limelight with his short but exciting knock while batting at three for the five-time champions.
Already tagged as ‘Baby AB’ for his batting style being similar to AB de Villiers, Brevis scored 29 off 19 balls with two fours and as many sixes. He must be gutted to not have converted a good start but during his brief stay in the middle, the 18-year-old showed glimpses of De Villiers and his six off Varun Chakaravarthy certainly left everyone stunned.
There was everything for one to believe that the former South African legend was batting in the middle. Chakaravarthy was introduced into the attack in the 8th over and Dewald Brevis took the attack to him off the very first delivery. The spinner drifted the ball on the leg-side which the batter deposited into the stands without even looking at what distance it went.
It was a no-look six authoritatively hit from the young South African batter showing off his talent in the middle. Though Brevis couldn’t extend his score beyond 29, it certainly gave a glimpse of the immense talent he possesses.
