Warwickshire sign Krunal Pandya for Royal London Cup 2022
Star India all-rounder Krunal Pandya has signed up for the English County side Warwickshire for the upcoming 2022 Royal London Cup campaign. The left-handed batter has already represented India at the international level. Krunal made his debut against England in 2021 and scored the fastest fifty on debut in ODIs, reaching it in just 26 balls.
Krunal has played 19 T20Is and five ODIs for the Men in Blue and also had a good outing during the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL). Representing Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Krunal bowled several tight spells for the new entrants and played a few handy knocks for them as well.
I cannot wait to call it my home: Krunal Pandya
“Edgbaston is a special place to play cricket and I can’t wait to call it my home. I hope I can play my part in a successful 50-over campaign with the Club and I am looking forward to meeting my teammates. I want to extend my gratitude to both Warwickshire County Cricket Club and BCCI for this opportunity,” Krunal said in a statement.
Warwickshire Director of Cricket, Paul Farbrace said, “Krunal is an incredible signing for the Club, and I’m delighted to welcome him to Edgbaston. Krunal will bring a wealth of international experience to a team that will be desperate to do well.”
“Due to our impressive T20 performances, we will lose players to The Hundred, but that’s always going to happen to successful teams. The opportunity to add a world-renowned all-rounder to an exciting group is fantastic,” he added.
The County team Warwickshire will play eight group-stage matches, with half of them to be played at their home ground Edgbaston and Krunal will be looking to have a good outing in his first Royal London Cup. The ODI competition is slated to start on August 2 and the final league-stage match will be played on August 23 with the final to be held on September 17. The top three teams at the end of the group stage progress to the knockout stages.
