Waqar Younis accuses India of lacking sportsmanship after England loss

The Indian approach at the death while batting against England baffled many people. When it was time to put the foot on the accelerator, MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav largely decided to play it safe, knocking the ball around for singles. In the end, India succumbed to a 31 run defeat at Edgbaston in the high-profile encounter chasing down a target of 338.

Had England lost the match, the chances of Pakistan qualifying for the semis would have been sky-high. A win against Bangladesh would have virtually guaranteed them a place in the semi-finals. But with England’s victory, the chances of the Men in Green making it to the last-four have taken a massive hit.

This has led to many Pakistani’s lashing out at the Indian team for their lack of intent in the match. No one though has been more agitated by India’s approach than legendary pacer Waqar Younis. In a stunning tweet, he has implied that India lost the match on purpose in order to compromise Pakistan’s chances of making it to the semis.

He wrote, “It’s not who you are.. What you do in life defines who you are.. Me not bothered if Pakistan gets to the semis or not but one thing is for sure.. Sportsmanship of few Champions got tested and they failed badly.

The tweet has divided a lot of opinions on various platforms on social media. While some have agreed with the iconic pacer, others have slammed him for making irresponsible remarks. What this tweet though has unquestionably achieved is a lot of controversy in the media circles.
