Ireland’s Joshua Little became the latest entrant to an elite list of bowlers claiming hat-tricks in T20 World Cup tournaments. The pace bowler took some important scalps in his hat-trick against New Zealand in Match 37 of Group 1 of the ongoing competition in Adelaide. Little joined some quality names by achieving this special feat.

Let’s take a look at the 5 bowlers who have claimed hat-tricks in T20 World Cups:

1.Brett Lee (2007)

Brett Lee created history when he became the first-ever bowler not only to pick a hat-trick in T20 World Cups but also in a T20 international. The right arm quick achieved the milestone against Bangladesh in the inaugural season in 2007. The seamer dismissed Shakib Al Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza, and Alok Kapali in the 17th over to enter the history books. Lee finished with figures of 3/27 with Australia winning the game by nine wickets.

2.Curtis Campher (2021)

Curtis Campher followed Lee as he became the second-ever bowler to bag a hat-trick in T20 WCs. He grabbed the feat against the Netherlands in 2021. He got rid of Colin Ackermann, Ryan ten Doeschate, Scott Edwards, and Roelof van der Merwe in the tenth over. Amongst the five names in this chart, Campher is the only one to snare four scalps in four balls. He ended his spell with figures of 4/26 as Ireland won the game by seven wickets.

3.Wanindu Hasaranga (2021)

Wanindu Hasaranga is the third name on this list. He spun his web to pick a hat trick against South Africa in 2021. The spinner dismissed Aiden Markram on the final ball of the 15th over and then got rid of Temba Bavuma and Dwaine Pretorius off the first two balls of the 18th over. He ended his spell with figures of 3/20 with his side losing the clash. Having already picked a hat-trick on his ODI debut, Hasaranga achieved the landmark also in the T20Is.

4.Kagiso Rabada (2021)

Kagiso Rabada became the fourth bowler to grab a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup when he dismissed Chris Woakes, Eoin Morgan, and Chris Jordan in the final over of the match against England in 2021 to defend 14 runs and win the match for the Proteas by ten runs. Notably, even Rabada has a hat trick to his name on his one-day international debut.

UAE spinner Karthik Meiyappan became the fifth and the latest bowler to enter this special list. The young 22-year-old bowler grabbed the feat against Sri Lanka in the ongoing 2022 edition.
