Virat Kohli’s post on daughter Vamika’s birth becomes the most liked tweet of 2021
The year 2021 was indeed special in Virat Kohli’s life as the Indian skipper became a father for the first time. His wife Anushka Sharma gave birth to a baby girl, who was named Vamika. Notably, Kohli had left the Indian team midway through the all-important tour of Australia to attend his child’s birth. He revealed the good news on January 11 earlier this year, with a post on social media platforms.
Kohli thanked his fans and well-wishers for their blessings and revealed that his wife and kid are safe and healthy. The tweet went viral in no time as congratulatory messages poured in from different quarters. From former and current cricketers to Bollywood celebrities and politicians, many wished Kohli and his actress wife. Interestingly, that announcement post from Kohli is the most liked tweet of 2021.
Virat Kohli’s post garnered 5.4 lakh likes
“@imVkohli blessing our timelines with this good news was the most Liked Tweet of 2021,” tweeted Twitter India on Thursday (December 9). “We are thrilled to share with you that we have been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon. We thank you all for your love, prayers and good wishes. Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Love, Virat,” read Kohli’s post.
Meanwhile, Kohli is currently gearing up for India’s upcoming tour of South Africa, where three Tests and as many ODIs are in schedule. The action in the rainbow nation gets underway on December 26 and Kohli will have a point to prove.
The Indian skipper hasn’t been at his best with the bat lately and it would be interesting to see how he performs against the Proteas side. It also must be noted that Rohit Sharma has replaced Virat Kohli as India’s ODI captain. Hence, a new era has gotten underway in Indian cricket.
