Virat Kohli’s message to critics ahead of Asia Cup 2022
Virat Kohli is set to be back in India colours for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 and there has been a lot of criticism from the fans and experts over his form in international cricket. The 33-year-old failed to register a single half-century in the England tour across formats and was not part of the West Indies and Zimbabwe tours.
However, he will be straight in action against Pakistan on August 28 in the Group A fixture of the Asia Cup 2022 and it will be interesting to see if he can find his lost form. The right-hander last scored century in international cricket in November 2019. Meanwhile, recently reminded the critics of his ability to overcome difficult situations through an indirect message.
Can’t run this far in your international career without having the ability to counter situations: Virat Kohli
Kohli said he is aware of his current game and felt that he hasn’t achieved so much in his international career without being able to overcome the difficult phases. The former India captain added that the phase has provided him with a lot of experience to value himself as a person.
“I know where my game stands and you cannot run this far in your international career without having the ability to counter situations and counter conditions and counter different kinds of bowling,” Kohli’s message for the fans as quoted by Hindustan Times.
“So, this for me is an easier phase to process, but I don’t want to put this phase behind me. I want to learn from it and I want to understand what are the core values that I have as a sportsperson and as a human being. As long as I’m ticking those boxes, I know there are ups and downs, and when I come out of this phase, I know how consistent I can be. My experiences are sacred to me. Whatever I have experienced in this phase or in the past, as well one thing that I can vouch for, is that I have never valued myself more as a person,” he added.
