Virat Kohli gifts Mehidy Hasan a jersey after Mirpur Test
Virat Kohli was indulged in a heated exchange with Bangladesh players on Day 3 of the second Test in Mirpur, but all their differences were laid to rest when he gave a special gift to Mehidy Hasan Miraz after the conclusion of the match on December 25.
Kohli gifted his jersey to Bangladesh all-rounder Miraz moments after India’s hard-fought three-wicket win on Day 4 to seal the two-match series. Miraz took to his official Twitter handle and appreciated the former India skipper for his kind gesture and for presenting him with the ‘special souvenir.’
Mehidy Hasan kept Indian batters at bay in the second innings
Mehidy had a memorable Test match as he finished with six wickets, including a fifer (5/63) in the second innings. He made things difficult for the Indian batters while defending 145 and nearly pulled off a historic win single-handedly for Bangladesh.
The 25-year-old accounted for the likes of Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Axar Patel and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant to put India in a spot of bother at 74/7. Mehidy could have easily got veteran offie R= Ashwin’s wicket, but Mominul Haque dropped an easy catch at forward short-leg.
It eventually turned out to be a costly miss for the hosts as Ashwin counter-attacked with an unbeaten 42. and added a vital 71 runs along with Shreyas Iyer (29*) for the eighth wicket as India completed a well-deserved series victory.
While the Bangladesh bowlers tried their best and applied the stranglehold on the visitors, they were let down by fielding lapses. The contest witnessed the hosts dropping three catches and also miss a stumping opportunity which ended up changing the outcome of the game. Notably, India sealed the series 2-0 after a 188-run victory in Chattogram.
