Usman Shinwari announces retirement from Test cricket

Pakistan cricketer Usman Shinwari has announced his retirement from red-ball cricket. Shinwari has played just one Test match for the Pakistan side in his Test career.

The left-arm pacer took to Twitter to announce his retirement from red-ball cricket. Shinwari tweeted that he has made a comeback from his back injury, and his doctors and physios have advised him to pull the curtains down on the longest format of the game.

Shinwari also added that he is leaving red-ball cricket to prolong his career in limited-overs cricket as well as to avoid injuries in the future as well.

Usman Shinwari has also represented Pakistan in 17 ODIs and 16 T20Is

Usman Shinwari has featured in 17 ODIs and 16 T20Is for Pakistan. While he has scalped 34 wickets in ODI cricket, the 27-year-old has prized out 13 willow wielders in T20Is.

Shinwari has also played 33 first-class matches in his career as well. He has picked up 96 wickets in first-class cricket and has scalped his wickets at an average of 26.84 and a strike rate of 49.40. Shinwari also picked up 2 five-wicket hauls in his first-class career.

Usman Shinwari last played an international match for Pakistan in December 2019. In the only Test that he played, the pacer picked up a solitary wicket. Shinwari made his debut in the year 2013, but could not stake a claim for a place in the Pakistan side on a regular basis in his start-stop career.
