Umran Malik – A special talent who can make it big for India
Umran Malik has been one of the best findings by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. His skills and ability with the ball has caught everyone’s attention and the cricketing greats like Sunil Gavaskar, Dale Steyn, and Ian Bishop among many others are all praises for the youngster from Jammu & Kashmir.
Impressed with his performance at the IPL 2022, fans cannot wait to see him don the blue jersey and play for his national side. In the year 2021, he was with SRH as a net bowler and was given a chance on the team after T Natarajan contracted the Covid-19 virus.
When the world was talking about Delhi Capitals’ Anrich Nortje, who had the top five fastest deliveries to his name, Malik went out there and clocked the second fastest delivery of the tournament when he bowled at 152.95 kph against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was then included in the Indian camp as a net bowler during the T20I World Cup.
Umran’s cricket journey began in the year 2017, when he started playing the game with a leather ball, and now, five years down the line, he has the ability to clock the ball consistently at 150+ kph. The youngster is now training with one of the best seamers in the history of cricket – Dale Steyn. The former South African pacer has been working closely with Malik as he wants him to be in the Indian squad soon.
This year at the IPL, he achieved a magnificent feat while playing against the Punjab Kings as he became just the fourth bowler (after Irfan Pathan, Lasith Malinga, and Jaydev Unadkat) to bowl a maiden 20th over. In his recent encounter, he added three wickets to his scalp in the last over, returning with figures of 4/28,
The 22-year-old pacer from Jammu and Kashmir has bowled the fastest ball in all the matches that he has played so far this season and is expected to continue his top form of cricket. If he remains consistent throughout, he might soon be seen in the Indian jersey, playing with the biggest names in cricket.
