UAE’s Junaid Siddique smashes 109m six off Dushmantha Chameera
Sri Lanka registered a comfortable win by 79 runs against the United Arab Emirates to stay alive in the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia. The UAE were bundled out for just 73 runs in the 18th over of the innings thanks to a terrific bowling effort led by Dushmantha Chameera. He ended with the figures of 3/15 in his 3.5 overs before hobbling off the field.
However, Chameera was at the receiving end of one of the longest sixes ever hit in Australia. UAE batter Junaid Siddique was the man who launched for a huge 109-metre maximum. The incident happened in the 17th over of the innings when Chameera delivered a full ball on the stumps and the batter swung his bat with all his might.
The connection was superb as the ball landed on the roof of the stadium and Junaid then hilariously flexed his muscles while looking at the UAE dugout. The incident left everyone including the commentators in splits. With not much left in the game, it was one of the better moments for the UAE in their batting innings.

Karthik Meiyappan’s hattrick goes in vain
Meanwhile, Karthik Meiyappan hogged all the limelight during Sri Lanka’s batting innings. He delivered a sensational hattrick in the 15th over dismissing the likes of Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Charith Asalanka and Dasun Shanaka off consecutive deliveries. Sri Lanka’s innings completely derailed post the hattrick and despite a brilliant knock of 74 runs off 60 balls from Pathum Nissanka, they could only post 152 runs on the board.
However, the score proved more than enough in the end with the UAE batters not even putting up a fight. Only Junaid Siddique’s muscling six was the highlight of the innings even as Sri Lanka managed to drop a couple of catches that led to UAE reaching 73 runs in their innings before getting skittled.
