Twitter goes berserk as India beat New Zealand in a nail-biting Super Over
It was a contest for the ages between India and New Zealand during the 3rd T20I in Hamilton. Batting first, India put up a score of 179 on the board. With the sluggish nature of the track, the total seemed to be enough for the visitors to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series. But Kane Williamson again showcased why he will go down as the greatest players in New Zealand’s rich history. His one-for-the ages knock of 95 put the Kiwis on the verge of victory. But Mohammed Shami came up with a brilliant final over, conceding only 8 runs, resulting in the tie.
The heartbreak of the Super Over would strike the hosts again despite being in control for most of its duration. Setting India a target of 18 runs, the game seemed to be done and dusted with the visitors needing 10 in the final two balls. But Rohit Sharma lived up to his ‘Hitman’ moniker, tonking two massive sixes against Tim Southee to leave Team India in jubilation.
