Test cricket is the format that tests the patience of a batsman to a great extent. Any batsman who plays for the country wants to hit a Test hundred for the team given it is a big milestone. There have been some players who have shown magnificent performance in a Test match by scoring a hundred in both innings. In this article, we are going to list out the current cricketers who have achieved this milestone.

Among Indian players, captain Virat Kohli, opener-batsman Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane are the three players to achieve this milestone. Virat Kohli set the stage on fire when he hit hundreds in both innings in his very first match as captain. India were without the services of their regular captain MS Dhoni the first Test of four-match series on the Australia tour. Virat scored 115 runs in the first innings, and then went on to smash another hundred in the second innings. Despite a valiant effort from Virat, India were unable to chase the target of 364 runs in the fourth innings as they were bowled out for 315 runs falling short by 48 runs.

Ajinkya Rahane hit twin hundreds against South Africa in the home series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. He scored 127 runs and 100* runs in the two innings. Rohit Sharma who was given responsibility as an opener for the first time in Test cricket against South Africa in 2019 proved the decision right. He smashed 176 runs in the first innings and then scored 127 runs in the second innings. India were able to win the match very comfortably with an incredible performance from Rohit Sharma.

Among current cricketers, David Warner has recorded this unique feat for the most times (3). His extraordinary efforts came against New Zealand, India and South Africa. Brendan Taylor of Zimbabwe has also hit twin hundreds multiple times (2), both coming against Bangladesh.

Steve Smith, who returned to Test cricket after a long gap due to his ban, too made his comeback memorable with twin hundreds against England in Ashes 2019. He registered scores of 144 and 142 in the Birmingham Test.

Other players who have hit hundreds in both innings of a Test match include Azhar Ali, Mominul Haque and Kieran Powell. Powell’s feat came in 2012 against Bangladesh when he hit 117 runs and 110 runs in the two innings.
