Top 3 wicket-takers of Ranji Trophy this season
Madhya Pradesh (MP) team scripted history as they registered their first-ever Ranji Trophy title. The 87th edition concluded and MP beat Mumbai in the finals to deny them their 42nd trophy. India’s premier first-class domestic competition produced some memorable batting innings and bowling performances. Shams Mulani kept taking wickets throughout the tournament with other bowlers also picking 25 or more scalps.

3. Shahbaz Nadeem (25)
Jharkhand’s slow left-arm orthodox bowler Shahbaz Nadeem ended the competition as the third-highest wicket-taker. The 32-years old spinner took 25 wickets in five matches at an average of 24.96 and strike rate of 56.6. In nine innings, he delivered his best spell of 5/58 and 10/141 being the best match figures. Nadeem bowled 42 maidens and took a five-wicket haul thrice in the season.
2. Kumar Kartikeya (32)
After having played for Mumbai Indians (MI) in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) edition, spinner Kumar Kartikeya represented Madhya Pradesh and played a crucial role in his side’s title-winning campaign. He took 32 wickets in six games at an average of 21.00 and a strike rate of 55.4. In 11 innings, he registered his best spell of 6/50 and 8/128 match figures. Kartikeya delivered 81 maidens and grabbed a five-for thrice.
- Shams Mulani (45)
Mumbai’s slow left-arm orthodox bowler Shams Mulani ended the competition as the highest wicket-taker. The 25-years old spinner snared 45 scalps in six encounters at an average of 16.75 and a strike rate of 34.5. in 11 innings, Mulani recorded his best performance of 7/114 and 11/167 being the match figures. Mulani bowled 34 maidens in the campaign and took a five-wicket haul six times. The spin bowler also grabbed ten wickets in a game twice in the season where his side finished as the runners-up.
