Top 3 run-getters of Ranji Trophy 2021-22
The 87th season of India’s premier first-class cricket competition Ranji Trophy is done and dusted and it’s Madhya Pradesh who has been crowned champions for the first time. They defeated the 41-time winner Mumbai in the final by six wickets to clinch their maiden title. Sarfaraz Khan dominated the tournament for the second time running as he wreaked havoc with his mountain of runs. Few others also occupied the top positions as they fared really well.

3.Chetan Bist (623)
Nagaland’s right-handed batter Chetan Bist scored the third-most runs in the Ranji Trophy this season. The 32-year-old wicketkeeper batter smashed 623 runs in just four matches at a staggering average of 311.50 which included five centuries. In six innings, he remained not out four times and registered his highest score of 155*.
2.Rajat Patidar (658)
After an impressive showing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Madhya Pradesh’s (MP) Rajat Patidar ended the tournament as the second-highest run-getter. The 29-years old right-handed batter smashed 658 runs in nine innings at an average of 82.25 with two centuries and five fifties and the best score of 142. His runs played a vital role in MP’s maiden title-winning campaign.
1.Sarfaraz Khan (982)
Winner of the Player of the Tournament award, Mumbai’s Sarfaraz Khan yet again dominated the Ranji Trophy season as he did in the 2019/20 edition. The 24-years old right-handed batter hammered 982 runs in nine innings at an average of 122.75 which included four hundred and two fifties with the highest score of 275. He became the first player to slam 900-plus runs in successive seasons in the history of the tournament. In the last edition, he scored 928 runs in six matches.
