Top 3 batters with most boundaries in a Test innings

Test cricket has a habit of producing roller coaster rides every now and then, but unlike white-ball cricket, Test cricket often produces sumptuous viewing by players when they are on song, whether it be the bowlers or the batters. Here is a look at batters who punished the bowling by dispatching them for a record number of boundaries in an innings.

3. Don Bradman, 46 Boundaries, 1930

Don Bradman is regarded by many as the greatest batter to have ever played the game. The batting great only played Test cricket in his illustrious career, and during that time, he made a name for his penchant for scoring big runs as he recorded 29 centuries in just 52 matches. 19 of those centuries came against Australia’s eternal rivals, England. During one such Test match against England, Bradman scored a punishing triple century as he smashed the hapless English bowlers for a record 46 boundaries in his innings of 334 runs off 448 deliveries.

2. Virender Sehwag – 47 Boundaries, 2006

If the ball was there to be hit, he would make sure it reached the fence. The explosive opener scored a remarkable triple century against Pakistan in 2004 and once again punished them in a Test in 2006 when he scored a mind-boggling 254 runs in just 247 deliveries. The right-hander finished with 47 boundaries and a solitary six to his name.

  1. John Edrich – 52 boundaries, 1965
