To make things better for India, Virat, Ravi, & Dhoni need to be on the same page :Monty Panesar
India and Afghanistan are set to lock horns with each other on November 03, 2021. While Afghanistan are currently better placed than India, India have extremely slim chances of making it to the semi-final round. In the same line of events, former English cricketer Monty Panesar feels that there is a divide in the Indian camp and that MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Ravi Shatri aren’t on the same page.
Panesar stated that India can still qualify and strike a comeback but will have to win their remaining three games with huge margins. However, Kohli, Shastri, and MS will have to align for that and it doesn’t feel that sync is there currently.
“India can still qualify. They can still turn it around. But it needs a lot of things and all will depend on Virat, Ravi, and Dhoni. Virat, Ravi, and Dhoni need to be on the same page. I believe they are not,” said Monty Panesar in an interview with Times of India.
Moving further in the conversation, the former English spinner added that people will always remember Kohli for being a great batter but will think that a leader in him failed. It is known to all that Kohli has developed himself as one of the greatest batters of the modern era, but a silverware in the cabinet eludes him.
India need to win all three games massively: Monty Panesar
“People will remember Virat as a great batsman and massive chaser but will always criticize him as a leader because he couldn’t do anything when the team was under crisis and he failed to turn it around. India need to win all the three games massively,” added Panesar.
India, who were deemed as absolute favorites to win the T20 WC 2021, have been struggling big time in their campaign. Firstly, they lost the game against Pakistan by 10 wickets and when it came to New Zealand, they had to bear another big loss in form of eight wickets. Now their chances of qualifying rely on mathematical calculations and results of other games.
