The couple is already blessed with two daughters – Indie May Southee and Sloane Ava Southee. While Indie was born in 2017, Sloane was born in 2019. The senior Kiwi cricketer was bought back by the two-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the 15th edition of the marquee tournament for a sum of INR 1.50 crore, which was also his base price.

Tim Southee’s IPL career

The tall speedster was roped in as Pat Cummins’ replacement during the second leg of the IPL 2021 in the UAE. He took three wickets in as many matches at an average of 31.66 and an economy of 7.91. KKR had an excellent campaign as they finished as the runners-up, losing to Chennai Super Kings in the final.

The 33-year-old is also a seasoned player, having represented four teams including four-time winners CSK, Rajasthan Royals, five-time champions Mumbai Indians, and the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He has 31 scalps to his name from 43 IPL appearances at an average of 44.77 and an economy of 8.67. Nonetheless, Southee is one of the most accomplished bowlers in the shortest format. In fact, he is the second-highest wicket-taker in T20Is, with 111 wickets in 92 games.

Southee is a classic swing bowler who can trouble the batters early on with the new ball. Apart from bowling, he is also known for his big-hitting abilities lower down the order. He would be expected to showcase some impactful performances this time around as KKR eye a third IPL title.

They begin their IPL 2022 campaign against the defending champions CSK in the curtain-raiser at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 26.
