Three teams with the longest T20I winning streaks
The T20I format has been one of the toughest in terms of keeping the winning streak going for the nations and it is important to adapt to the new approach. The teams that have not been afraid to go after the bowling straightaway have found success in the format consistently and the bowling unit is a vital part. It is important that the players take up responsibilities in the T20I format. Let us look into three teams with the longest T20I streaks.
India
India had a productive period in T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2021’s early exit and it started with the game against Afghanistan in the Group fixtures. The men in blue had a strong finish by beating Scotland and Namibia comfortably. Under Rahul Dravid as the head coach, India started their campaign with a 3-0 victory at home, and continued the excellent run against West Indies and Sri Lanka by whitewashing them at home. The 12-game unbeaten run finally came to an end against South Africa in June 2022.
Romania
Not many would rate Romania to be a stronger side in cricket, however, they had a stellar run in T20Is from October 2020 to September 2021. They started with a 3-0 series victory against Bulgaria in 2020 and won five straight games in the Sofia T20Is against different opponents in June 2021. In September 2021, Romania continued their dream run and managed to win four games on a trot in the Continental Cup to finish with a 12-game winning streak.
Afghanistan
Afghanistan have grown leaps and bounds in the last decade in international cricket and they attained the Tests status as well. The Asian country had a splendid run from February 2018 to September 2019 where they lost not even a single T20I. It all started in the tour of UAE, where Afghanistan won two back-to-back games against Zimbabwe. They secured a 3-0 victory against Bangladesh at home and followed it up with a 2-0 victory in Ireland. The tremendous run continued into Ireland at home with a 3-0 victory and it came to an end in the Tri series featuring Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.
