Three Indian players who can make a comeback for Sri Lanka series
India are all set to travel to Sri Lanka in July for the limited-overs series. On the other hand, all the players who will be part of the WTC final squad wouldn’t be available for the series. It makes the fact clear that the Men in Blue would tour the island nation without services of big names like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, etc.
While the team would miss all the experience of its senior players, it would be a fine time for some other player for marking their comeback. Many players haven’t been able to make it to the XI due to team combination and fierce competition in the squad. This would be a golden chance for them to make a cut again. 3. Manish Pandey
Pandey played the last time in a T20I for India in the series against Australia and appeared for the last ODI in 2020 against New Zealand. Pandey has not been able to cement his place well on the national side due to cut-throat competition in the team. His tendency of striking slow has also been under many questions but the Lanka tour can be a great opportunity for him to display his skills and make his case strong for India further.
2. Prithvi Shaw
Shaw is yet to mark his T20I debut for India and the upcoming tour seems like the best opportunity for the young batsman. Shaw last played for India during the Australia Test series and was dropped immediately owing to his dismal form. However, he went on to touch new highs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after it and carried his form in IPL 2021. He will definitely be one of the best contenders to make a comeback.
1. Deepak Chahar
Chahar has been another T20I specialist for India in recent years but his chances have not materialised in front of other big names in India. In fact, he became the first male cricketer to bag a hat-trick for India in T20Is. His performance in the recent IPL was also fine and his ability to deliver with the new ball can see him landing in the squad for the Lanka tour. It will be a great chance for him.
