Three highest individual scores in Asia Cup history

The 15th edition of the Asia Cup is round the corner and it is all set to take place from August 27 to September 11 in the UAE, with six teams fighting it out to clinch the ultimate title. Over the years, there have been some great individual performances that have also led their sides to victories in the competition.

3.Shoaib Malik (143)

Veteran Pakistani batter Shoaib Malik holds the record for the third-highest individual score of 143 in Asia Cup tournaments. He achieved the feat against arch-rivals India in Colombo (RPS) in 2004. Pakistan batted first and Malik batted at no. 3 and smashed 143 off 127, which included 18 fours and a six with a strike rate of 112.19. His side posted a massive total of 300/9 thanks to his brilliant knock as they defeated India by 59 runs. He grabbed the Player of the Match award for his match-winning innings.

2.Younis Khan and Mushfiqur Rahim (144)

Younis Khan and Mushfiqur Rahim jointly occupy the second position on this list. In the 2004 campaign, batting at no. 4, Younis smashed 144 off 122, which included eight fours and three sixes, against Hong Kong in Colombo (SSC) as Pakistan won the match by 173 runs (DL method) courtesy of tons from Younis and also Malik.

1.Virat Kohli (183)

One of the most breathtaking knocks in ODI cricket a fan would ever witness came from the bat of India’s modern-day great Virat Kohli. The run-machine Kohli hammered 183 off 148, the highest individual score in Asia Cups, with the help of 22 fours and a maximum in the run-chase against rivals Pakistan in Mirpur in 2012. Chasing 330, Kohli went berserk and stunned the Pakistanis with his career-best innings. India won the match by six wickets with Kohli winning the Player of the Match award for his memorable and unbelievable knock.
