The Hundred 2022: Tymal Mills ruled out of remaining tournament

England‘s pace sensation Tymal Mills will miss the remainder of The Hundred 2022 after undergoing surgery on Friday (August 12) for his toe injury and this will be a major blow to the Southern Brave side. However, Mills is hopeful of making the T20 World Cup squad for England, which is set to be held in October-November in Australia. England will play seven T20Is against Pakistan apart from the three T20Is against Australia as a preparation for the T20 World Cup 2022.

The left-arm pacer had an impressive The Hundred tournament last year for the Southern Brave, which earned him a recall into the England squad for the T20 World Cup 2021. With his disguised slower ones and the yorkers that he can nail, Mills was expected to be a vital cog in the bowling setup for England. He also played in IPL 2022 this year for the Mumbai Indians, where he picked up six wickets in five games at an economy rate of 11.17.

Mills has played 13 T20Is so far, picking up 12 wickets at an average of 31.16 and an impressive economy rate of 8.37. The 30-year-old did miss the first game of The Hundred in 2022 but was picked for the second one against the Birmingham Phoenix. He returned with figures of 0 for 33 at 1.65 runs per ball and missed out in the third game against the London Spirit again.

After starting the campaign with a win this year, Southern Brave have succumbed to two losses consecutively and the bowling attack has had several setbacks already. Chris Jordan, George Garton, and Craig Overton have issues with availability and the Southern Brave are likely to name a replacement for Mills now. Mills and Jordan have combined well for Southern Brave in the past and it has been a deadly combination for England, too.

The Southern Brave will take on the Oval Invincibles in their next encounter of The Hundred Men’s 2022 at The Oval on August 14.
