The Extras – Weekly Round-Up Of Cricket’s Major Happenings
Slowly and steadily, things in the world of cricket seem to be on their way to normalcy. With the West Indies Test team having touched down in the UK, cricket resumption is now less than a month away. The coronavirus pandemic hasn’t been completely wiped off yet but the cricketing fraternity is keeping their fingers crossed! In this week edition of ‘The Extras’, we take a look at some serious, some not-so-serious incidents from the world of cricket.

Daren Sammy speaks up
The week gone by was tough one to comprehend. The #BlackLivesMatter campaign in the US invariably ended up giving a sneak peek of racism in sport. West Indies cricketer Darren Sammy voiced out his concerns over the alleged racism that he faced in India, and it immediately caused a whirlwind on the internet. Sammy found tremendous support from all corners, including his Caribbean teammate Chris Gayle and India cricketer Irfan Pathan.
Racism is not restricted to the colour of the skin. Not allowing to buy a home in a society just because u have a different faith is a part of racism too… #convenient #racism

However, Sammy’s recent tweet suggested that the cricketer and his Sunrisers Hyderabad teammates decided to let bygones be bygones.
I’m please to say that I’ve had a really interesting conversation with one of the guys and we are looking at ways to educate rather than focusing on the negatives. My brother reassured me that he operated from a place of love ? and I believe him. ??????

A great save by Dhoni
On a lighter note, yet another gem from the Dhoni household has made it to the internet, this time from the junior Dhoni’s Instagram account. A recent post on Ziva Dhoni’s page gave a glimpse of the former Indian captain’s life in lockdown.
