The Caribbean verdict: IPL stars and their CPL 2020 performances
The much-awaited season of the Indian Premier League is all set to get underway from September 19, and players have been going full throttle in their sessions to get into the best shape. While there are still a few days left for the mega event, some of the players are flaunting their class in the 2020 edition of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League.
The CPL started back on August 18 and will set the final action for this season on September 10. Now, few players are regarded as stars in their respective teams in IPL and have been faring well in CPL 2020. Let’s look at a few of them.
1. Rashid Khan
The star spinner of Sunrisers Hyderabad has always been a vital cog for the team since his entry in IPL. He has been part of this fancy league for only three years, yet great batsmen around the world remain in fear of his deadly bowling skills. In 46 IPL matches, he has 55 wickets to his credit with an economy of 6.55. In current CPL, he is part of Barbados Tridents, which is standing at the second from the bottom slot in the points table. In 10 matches, he has scalped 11 wickets at an economy of 6.85

The Caribbean great has been considered as one of the great finishers in the world. Ever since he has been roped in by Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL, he has been setting their performance on fire by his massive hits. In 64 matches he has massive 1400 runs to his credit with a strike rate of 186.42.
Russell is currently the part of Jamaica Tallawahs in CPL, and his team is at the 4th slot in the points table. In the eight matches (7 innings) that he played, Russell scored a total of 220 runs at an average of 55 with three half-centuries, and his team qualified for the semi-finals.
3. Mitchell Santner
The young New Zealand all-rounder marked his IPL debut only in the previous season with Chennai Super Kings. He wasn’t the regular part of the team and wasn’t much impressive in the matches that he got a chance. In 4 IPL matches, he has scalped four wickets at an economy of 6.71. He scored 32 runs in four matches.
In CPL 2020, Santner is part of the Barbados Tridents squad wherein he has produced 145 runs in 9 matches and scalped six wickets conceding runs at an economy of 5.59. The Tridents didn’t qualify for the knockouts and ended the league stage at fifth place.

The Caribbean all-rounder has been the part of the IPL ever since its inception. He was initially on a journey with Mumbai Indians, but since 2014, he has been emerging as a great all-rounder for Chennai Super Kings. In 134 IPL matches, he has a massive 1483 runs to his credit along with 147 wickets.
In the 2020 CPL, he is part of Trinbago Knight Riders, who are straight into the semis after winning every single league match. However, CPL 2020 hasn’t been going good enough for Bravo, where he has only 17 runs (3 innings) and nine wickets to his credit in eight matches.
5. Sunil Narine
Narine is another Caribbean who is having an illustrious career in IPL after making entry into the mega event in 2012. Possessing the ability to contribute with both bat and ball, he is a key figure in the Kolkata Knight Riders. In 110 matches, he has 771 runs along with 122 wickets to his credit.
In CPL 2020, Narine’s team, Trinbago Knight Riders, have qualified for the semi-finals, but he wasn’t a regular part of the squad. Having played only four matches, he still has 140 runs and five wickets to his name.
