Team India to play three warm-up matches on England tour
Team India will be embarking on an extremely busy schedule after the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. They are set to play the five-match T20I series against South Africa starting from June 9 while the Test team will leave for the England tour on June 16. At the same time, it is understood that the team selected for SA T20Is will be picked for the two-match T20I series against Ireland as well.
Meanwhile, according to Cricbuzz, India’s Test team will be in action before the one-off Test in a warm-up fixture against Leicestershire from June 24. It will be a four-day game and a first-class fixture too as two Indian teams will be in action at the same time with the T20I side facing Ireland on June 26 and 28 in Dublin.
India will play two warm-up games before ODI and T20I series
It is also reported that India’s white-ball team will play two warm-up matches before the three-match T20I and ODI series against England. The warm-up fixtures are likely to be against Derbyshire and Northamptonshire on July 1 and 3 respectively. The T20I series between India and England will commence on July 7 while the ODIs are scheduled to be played from July 12. The only Test will be played from July 1 to 5 in Birmingham.
India head coach Rahul Dravid is looking after all the arrangements in coordination with the BCCI management and selection committee for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England. The bigger task for the selectors is of picking a pool of players as they did for Sri Lanka and England tour last year. The squads are expected to be announced next week for the South Africa T20Is, England Test, ODI and T20Is.
The juggernaut doesn’t stop here for team India as they will be travelling to West Indies and the US for a white-ball series and then will be participating in the Asia Cup set to start in the last week of August.
