T20 World Cup 2022: Most sixes in the tournament
The just-concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2022 saw England beat Pakistan in an exciting final by five wickets to lift the trophy for the second time. The victory also means that the Three Lions are the first team to hold both ODI and T20I world titles at the same time.
Meanwhile, this competition also witnessed a few of the batters who managed to clear the big boundaries in Australia with ease to emerge as the players with most sixes. Without further ado, here’s a look at three of those talented individuals.
3. Andrew Balbirnie (9)
Irish skipper Andrew Balbirnie had a memorable tournament even though the team could not collectively make a mark after a point in time. Ireland were good in the group stages as they went on to knock out the two-time winners West Indies. They also stunned the eventual champions England in the Super 12. Meanwhile, Andrew Balbirnie enjoyed batting against some top quality bowlers and was able to clear the boundary at regular intervals. Balbirnie hit nine sixes in the tournament and finished with 153 runs from seven innings.
2. Alex Hales (10)
Alex Hales had an excellent tournament and was a key member of the English side that finished as the champions. He was picked in the England squad as a replacement for an injured Jonny Bairstow. Hales left everyone shell-shocked with his amazing power-hitting abilities combined with the experience, as he made easy work of any world-class bowling attack. The explosive opener finished the tournament with 10 maximums, having amassed 212 runs from six innings. In fact, seven of those sixes came in the semis against India where he scored a blistering unbeaten 86 runs off 47 deliveries at an outstanding strike rate of 183.
1. Sikandar Raza (11)
Sikandar Raza had a dream tournament as an all-rounder as he showcased impactful performances with both bat and the ball. While Raza turned out to be the match-winner for Zimbabwe with the ball in hand against the eventual finalists Pakistan, he has also succeeded in hitting the most number of sixes in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 down under. Sikandar Raza finished with 11 maximums and amassed 219 runs from eight innings.
