T20 WC is the most liked sporting event of 2022 in India
As per the Axis My India Consumer Sentiment Index, the T20 World Cup 2022 turned out to be the most liked sporting event of 2022 in India. As per the survey, a total of 46% enjoyed the tournament in Australia and voted for the same while 25% voted in favour of the IPL and 16% chose FIFA World Cup.
The survey was carried out via computer-aided telephonic interviews with a sample size of 10,019 people across states and Union Territories. Meanwhile, as per reports, 70% of these people belong to rural India while 30% of them are from the urban sector.
When it comes to regional spread, 25% belong to the northern part of India, while 27% belong to the eastern parts. Meanwhile, 28% belong to the western part of the country while 20% are from the southern part of the nation.
The survey also shows that 61% of the respondents were male, while 39% of them were female. On the other hand, 30% of them reflect the age group of 36-50 years while 27% reflect the age group of 26-35 years.
Meanwhile, in the mega tournament, the English team once again reigned supreme as the Jos Buttler-led side won their second T20 World Cup. In the finals of the 2022 edition, England got the better off Pakistan at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground and won the game by five wickets.
After winning the toss, England chose to bowl first and put Pakistan under pressure from the early overs. After struggling for the majority part of their innings, Pakistan managed to put 137 runs on board but that wasn’t enough to stop the English cricketers. Test skipper Ben Stokes once again proved his calibre and scored a valuable half-century on the night of the finals to let England have the prestigious trophy for the second time.
On the other hand, Sam Curran, who was in electrifying form throughout the course of the season, was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament. The 24-year-old picked up 13 wickets from six matches in the World Cup.
