T20 WC 2022: Most wickets in Super 12 stage
The Super 12 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup Australia produced some mind-boggling results, making this year’s tournament one of the most exciting events in recent history. The Australian condition was touted to suit the bowlers, and it has been the case to a great extent. Here we list the most prolific bowlers from the Super 12 stage of the tournament.
Mark Wood (England)- 9 wickets
England’s blistering pacer Mark Wood set the Super 12 stage alight with his thunderous deliveries. Wood finished as the third-leading wicket-tacker of the Super 12 stage after scalping nine wickets to guide England to a semi-final place in the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia.
Shadab Khan (Pakistan), Sam Curran (England), Arshdeep Singh (India) – 10 wickets
Pakistan managed to sneak into the semis after South Africa’s shock exit from the tournament. While the Pakistani pacers have always been in the limelight for their exploits, ace spinner Shadab Khan has been their best player in the tournament by some distance. The star-all-rounder returned with ten wickets to his name, compiling several match-winning performances for his side.
England’s Sam Curran has been one of the most improved cricketers in the shortest format of the game since the turn of the year. The talented all-rounder has been exceptional with the ball in hand, especially in the death overs, not giving an inch to the opposing batters. He has been one of England’s most consistent performers in the tournament so far.
Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has risen to the occasion and has caught the eye of the fans with his ability to swing the ball both ways in the powerplay. The 23-year-old kicked off his T20 WC career with a bang, dismissing Paksitan skipper Babar Azam on his very first delivery in the competition. He went on to add another nine wickets to his tally in the Super 12 stage.
Anrich Nortje (South Africa) – 11 wickets
It shouldn’t be a surprise at all that South Africa’s menacing fast bowler Anrich Nortje is at the top of the list. Nortje made full use of the friendly bowling conditions on offer in Australia, battling the opposing batters with his terrifying pace. Unfortunately, the tall pacer won’t play any further part in the tournament after South Africa’s early exit from the tournament.
