T20 WC 2021: Tim Seifert set to replace Devon Conway in the NZ playing XI

New Zealand

The final of the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup will be played between the Trans-Tasman rivals, Australia and New Zealand. This mega clash is slated to take place on 14th November 2021 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

And, there is a major update that has come in ahead of the final from the New Zealand camp. The Kiwi skipper, Kane Williamson has confirmed that Tim Seifert will replace Devon Conway in the playing XI for the final against the Australian side.

Conway injured his right hand after he hit his bat hard with his hand after he was dismissed in the semifinal clash between England and New Zealand. As a result, not only has Conway been ruled out of the summit clash, he will also not take part in New Zealand’s upcoming T20I series against India as well.

New Zealand beat England by 5 wickets to qualify for the final

The New Zealand side produced a superb performance in the semi-final against England. Batting first, the England side posted a challenging total of 166/4 on the board, with Moeen Ali scoring a classic 51* at a strike rate in excess of 135.

In reply, it was the Daryl Mitchell show that helped New Zealand cross the finish line. Mitchell anchored the Kiwi batting lineup and scored a classic 72* off 47 deliveries to steer New Zealand into the final. Mitchell struck 4 fours and as many sixes and scored his runs at a strike rate in excess of 150.

Apart from Mitchell, the likes of Devon Conway and James Neesham contributed useful cameos as well. While Conway scored a sedate 46 off 38 deliveries, Neesham tore into the England bowling attack and plundered 27 runs off just 11 deliveries.
