T20 WC 2021: ENG vs BAN Preview – Maiden confrontation between old rivals
England and Bangladesh will be meeting each other in the Super 12 round of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. Both the teams are coming into this game with a different note. Bangladesh after managing to qualify for the main round started their group stages with a loss against Sri Lanka. On the other hand, England completely dismantled the West Indies winning their opening game quite easily.
But, England should be wary about the threat which Bangladesh can be on a surface such as the Abu Dhabi ground. The pitch has not seen a lot of runs being scored in the last few matches, however, Bangladesh’s best chance to win a game is on this kind of a surface. Having said that, this will be a crucial encounter for Bangladesh, because another loss could put them fairly behind in the semi-final race.
Match Info
England vs Bangladesh, 20th Match, Super 12 Group 1
Venue: Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi
Time: 3:30 PM IST
Head to head:
This will be the first time that these two international teams will be facing each other in a T20 match.
Team News:
England: Mark Wood missed the first game and his injury is a concern. However, the XI which they played in the previous game is quite fit for a big game. They still have enough batting and bowling options to make a strong set-up. If Wood is fit and back, he will come in place of Chris Jordan.
Bangladesh: With Mohammad Saifuddin ruled out, Bangladesh will have to make one forced change. Rubel Hossain is likely to be the replacement. They might consider bringing in Soumya Sarkar in place of Liton Das. If that happens, Nurul Hasan will take the gloves but it adds another bowling option on this pitch. The rest of the XI should remain unchanged.
