T20 WC 2021: Day 2, Stats Review – Curtis Campher’s record-breaking spell and other stats
The second day of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 saw a couple of one-sided clashes. While Ireland defeated the Netherlands by seven wickets in the afternoon game, Sri Lanka thrashed Namibia by the same margin in the evening game. These wins would definitely have boosted the morale of winning teams. At the same time, Netherlands and Namibia need to fill their loopholes to bounce back.
Meanwhile, here are the important stats and numbers from the 3rd and 4th match of ICC T20 World Cup 2021:
2 – Sri Lanka recorded their second biggest win in T20Is in terms of balls remaining (39). In 2014, they defeated Netherlands with 90 balls to spare.
2 – Curtis Campher recorded the second-best figures by an Ireland bowler in T20 World Cups (4/26). In 2009, Alex Cusack registered 4/18 against Sri Lanka.
2 – Campher became the second bowler after Brett Lee to take a hat-trick in T20 World Cup.
1 – Campher is also the first Ireland bowler to take a hat-trick in T20Is.
3 – Campher became the third bowler after Lasith Malinga and Rashid Khan to take four wickets in as many balls in an international match. Malinga has achieved the feat twice.
3/9 – Among bowlers to finish their quota of four overs, Mark Adair now has the most economical figures for Ireland in T20 World Cups. He gave away just nine runs in four overs, taking three wickets in the process.
7 – Max O’Dowd registered his seventh half-century in T20 internationals.
5 – This is the first instance of five Netherlands players bagging golden ducks in an innings.
2,500 – Paul Stirling became the first Ireland player to complete 2,500 runs in T20I cricket.
6,500 – Stirling also became the first Ireland player to complete 6,500 runs in T20 cricket.
500 – Gareth Delany completed 500 runs in T20I cricket.
1,500 – Avishka Fernando completed 1,500 runs in T20 cricket.
