Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Arjun Tendulkar bags his first wicket at the senior level

Arjun Tendulkar, the son of batting great Sachin Tendulkar, is all set to walk in the footsteps of his father as he earned his maiden cap for the domestic Mumbai team at the senior level in a Group E game of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy against Haryana at the MCA’s ground in Bandra Kurla Complex.

The toss went in the favor of Mumbai skipper Suryakumar Yadav and he elected to bat first. The host side was bundled out for a paltry total of 143 runs within 19.3 overs. Atharva Ankolekar emerged as the highest run-getter for his side with 37 runs followed by Yashasvi Jaiswal who scored 35 runs.

For Haryana, the spinner Jayant Yadav emerged as the pick of the bowler as he scalped four wickets while Arun Chaprana had three to his name. Arjun Tendulkar remained not-out without opening his account and without facing any ball while batting as he was sent to bat at Number 11 position.

The left-arm quick didn’t have an ideal outing with the ball. The 21-year-old gave away 15 runs in his first over. However, he finally managed to pick his maiden wicket at the senior level for Mumbai as he was successful in sending Haryana’s opening batsman Chaitanya Bishnoi back to the pavilion in the fourth over.

The match result came in the favour of Haryana as they easily scored 144 runs in 17.4 overs and won the game by 8 wickets.
