Suryakumar Yadav wins hearts after clicking selfies with young Mumbai fans
Following Mumbai Indians’ record-setting victory against Rajasthan Royals in the 1000th IPL match at the Wankhede, star Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav was caught sharing an endearing moment with his young fans. The swashbuckling batter clicked pictures with his young fans after his match-defining half-century against Sanju Samson’s side.
The Mumbai-based outfit needed to complete a record chase after Yashasvi Jaiswal’s glittering century propelled Rajasthan Royals to a daunting total of 212 runs in their 20 overs. Rohit Sharma’s side were falling behind in the game after Ishan Kishan’s dismissal in the ninth over of the chase.
However, Suryakumar Yadav’s blistering half-century got the chase back on track for the home side. The no.1 T20I batter in the world, who entered the tournament on the back of a woeful couple of months for the national side, got off the mark in the match off the very first ball with a trademark six against veteran offie Ravichandran Ashwin.
His blistering innings came to an end after Sandeep Sharma’s sensational catch, an early contender for the catch of the season. Following his innings, the star batter gathered his young fans and clicked several selfies with them. He also signed an autograph for another young fan, who was over the moon after his exchange with the batting sensation, in a video shared by Mumbai Indians’ official social media handle.
While SKY’s innings provided the much-needed momentum to his side during the chase, it was Tim David’s heroics in the death overs that saw Mumbai Indians complete the highest successful run chase at the Wankhede in IPL history. The towering Aussie dasher smashed 45 runs in just 14 deliveries in a mind-boggling assault against the Rajasthan bowlers.
