Suryakumar Yadav spotted playing gully cricket in Mumbai

The versatile India batter Suryakumar Yadav is known for his fierce playing style in limited-overs cricket. Recently, he was seen playing gully with his fans on the street in Mumbai. Donning India’s blue jersey, he has become a huge name in the shortest format of the sport. The star player is also known for playing unorthodox shots with ease.

In a clip shared by his IPL team Mumbai Indians (MI) on Instagram, he was spotted playing scoop shots, also known as Supla shots among kids. The video featured him attempting a scoop shot through the leg side. As Yadav was born and raised in Mumbai, he seems to be much familiar with the rules and regulations of gully cricket.

To watch him play, a large number of boys gathered from neighbouring areas. They also cheered for the 32-year-old whenever he cleared the boundary ropes.

Yadav, who is a part of India’s squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, couldn’t show up well in the first Test, scoring only eight runs in the first innings.

Yadav became the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2022, hitting 1,164 runs with two tons and nine half-centuries in 31 matches at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 187.43. This year too, he has looked impressive in T20Is amassing 267 runs in six matches at an amazing strike rate of 152.57. In January, he also notched up a century against Sri Lanka at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
